When is it time to Update Your Will?

Here is a straightforward list of events that would indicate it is time to review your will.

  • You want to change your Guardian, Personal Representative, Trustee or successor.
  • Review has not occurred within last 12-36  months.
  • You want to change, add or remove beneficiaries in your will.
  • You want to change the amounts you’ll give to one or more beneficiaries.
  • You want to change what you give to one or more beneficiaries.
  • There has been a change in marital status for you or a member of your family.
  • There has been a birth or an adoption of children or grandchildren.
  • There has been a significant change in health to you or a family member.
  • There has been a death to a person named in the will.
  • There has been a significant change in value of your estate.
  • There has been a change in the form of property ownership.
  • There has been a significant change in a business situation.
  • You moved to another state.
  • There have been significant tax law changes.
  • Children beneficiaries reach the age of eighteen.
